Description
Straight-run baby chicks, hatched here on the farm and ready to go home with you. We do not run a hatchery-scale operation shipping day-olds through the mail in a box, we hatch in small batches and sell locally, which means the chicks you pick up have already had a day or two of eyes-on care from us before they are yours.
Because our flock is a mixed working flock rather than a single show breed, chicks can favor either parent, so you will get some variation in color and size as they feather out. Most of our regulars like it that way. It keeps a backyard flock interesting.
Before you bring them home
- Have a brooder ready with a heat source, aiming for around 95°F the first week and stepping it down about 5° a week as they feather out.
- Start them on chick starter feed and clean water from day one, with grit if you introduce anything beyond crumble.
- Keep them away from your established flock for a couple of weeks before any introductions.
Pickup and local delivery only. Chicks are too fragile for us to ship responsibly, so plan to collect them from the farm or arrange local delivery with us. Priced per chick, select the quantity you need above. Message us before ordering if you need them by a specific date, hatch timing depends on the flock.
