Description
There is a real difference between a store-bought clamshell of herbs that wilts in three days and a pot of basil you grew yourself and can snip from all summer. Our organic herb seeds are the same varieties we plant in our own beds, packaged so you can start that difference in your own kitchen window or garden bed.
Eight varieties to choose from above: Basil, Cilantro, Mint, Oregano, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme. Pick one or grab a few, they cover most of what a home cook reaches for on a weekly basis.
Getting started
- Most herbs on this list germinate in one to three weeks depending on variety and warmth, mint and basil tend to be the quickest.
- Basil is frost-tender and wants warm soil, so wait until after your last frost to put it outside. Here in upstate South Carolina that is usually sometime in April, give or take.
- Mint spreads aggressively once established. If you do not want it taking over a bed, keep it in a container.
- Rosemary, sage, and thyme are perennial in most winters here and will come back year after year once established.
