Planting
Direct sow after last frost once soil is warm, or start indoors 2–3 weeks early for a jump on the season.

Deep watering at the base, keeping water off the leaves helps hold off powdery mildew in our humidity.

Pick young, 6–8 inches is the sweet spot, oversized squash turns seedy and the plant slows down production trying to mature that one fruit.
